24 janvier 1966 : seize années après le crash du Malabar Princess, la compagnie Air India perd un second avion de ligne (Boeing 707) et paye un tribu supplémentaire de 117 morts dans le secteur des rochers de la Tournette, non loin du sommet du Mont Blanc.

Le 2 février 1966, l’Alouette III F-ZBAS Dragon 74 de la Base Protection civile d’Annecy décolle depuis Chamonix pour une mission de recherche.
